The very real stigma around MAT often prevents individuals in medication assisted recovery from participating in peer fellowships for recovery, or from being able to avail themselves of recovery housing or other important supports.  So, from that perspective, I was really drawn to FAVOR.  At FAVOR Lowcountry, we believe in all pathways to recovery.  There is no one right path, people have the right and autonomy to choose the path that is right for them.  And also, one of the things that FAVOR Lowcountry “does” is stigma reduction.  We do this through education, through facilitating conversations, and through sharing stories that put a ‘face and voice’ to recovery from addiction.
