FAVOR is in search of a highly-qualified & highly-motivated individual to serve as its Executive Director. The Executive Director will serve as the leader of the organization.

This role is critical to driving the vision, day to day operations, and sustainability of the organization. The Executive Director is the face of the organization and works closely with the FAVOR Board of Directors (BoD), additional management team members, and other local, regional,  and statewide partners to support people in recovery, expand the reach to marginalized populations, partner with community/government/policymakers to advocate on behalf of people in recovery, and importantly to reach donors and supporters to sustain and grow the organization.

The Executive Director should be able to execute &/or project manage both large and small action items required to keep the organization moving forward daily.

Location

FAVOR Lowcountry is an independent chapter of the national FAVOR organization.  This position is located in Charleston, SC.  Remote working is not an option for this position.

This position entails key responsibilities for the program management and development of FAVOR Lowcountry. Specifically, long-term vision planning, cooperation with our Board of Directors, and daily management of all program requirements.

Working at FAVOR Lowcountry:

Job Purpose:

The Executive Director coordinates all aspects of FAVOR Lowcountry’s program development, organizational growth, and management.

This includes training cohorts of individuals in recovery as Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS), maintaining active all recovery meetings, and facilitating cooperation among agencies in our area. This position is responsible for engaging a diverse community, mentoring new volunteers, working collaboratively with our Board of Directors, identifying areas for the advancement of recovery advocacy and education activities aligned with our organization’s strategic goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with marketing of ongoing initiatives and working closely with our Social Media Manager

  • Create branded materials for distribution

  • Maintain related online resources and program webpages

  • Grant management

  • Fundraising

  • Monitoring all Social Media updates

  • All Recovery Meeting Facilitation

  • Cooperation with local key stakeholder agencies

  • NARCAN and other harm reduction supplies distribution

  • Planning events for our recovery community

  • Other duties as assigned

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Respond to requests for information and resources in a timely manner

  • Assist in company brand consistency throughout programs

  • Record all pertinent information and project interaction in a clear and concise manner

  • Host virtual meetings through the Zoom platform

  • Ensure timely and clear communication for all matters related to the program

  • Assist with collecting project data and preparing reports

  • Other administrative duties

Qualifications /Experience

  • Training facilitation and design experience required

  • Management and Hiring of Staff

  • Experience in remote work and virtual platforms

  • Program and Project management experience required.

  • Recovering from a substance use disorder (preferred), minimum of three years in recovery (required).

  Specialized Knowledge  

  • Thorough understanding of servant leadership and community organizing.

  • Familiarity with recovery community organization best practices and standards

  • Familiarity with best practices for training and technical assistance and adult learning models

  Skills  

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and schedules

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills

  • Superior internet research skills

 Other characteristics such as personal characteristics  

  • Strong commitment and enthusiasm for recovery advocacy and the people and groups we serve around the Lowcountry

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a team.

  • Strong commitment to social justice advocacy as it relates to substance use disorders, addiction, & stigma.

  • Willing to travel for trainings, conferences, and gatherings.

 Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associate (AA) or equivalent project management experience required

 Professional Certification  

  • Certified as a Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) in South Carolina (preferred) or capable of becoming a CPSS.

Physical requirements 

This is an office/management position that requires sitting, standing, meeting with community members at the office, off-site, or in their location.  Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time. Some occasions may call for moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds to and from venue locations for various event needs.
